Houston’s M.D. Anderson Cancer Center will hold its 8th Annual Sprint for Colorectal Onconlogy Prevention and Education (SCOPE) 5K Run/Walk and 1K Chidren’s Run on Saturday, March 23, 2013. The event honors colorectal cancer survivors and focuses attention on colorectal cancer information, screening, and prevention. The event was established in 2006 by Kimberly Tripp and oncologist Cathy Eng, M.D. The run/walk has gotten larger every year since its establishment,and the organizers hope to draw at least 10,000 participants this year.
People interested in participating can register online until 3:00 PM on March 20, and in-person registrations will be accepted from 6:00 to 7:30 AM on the day of the event. Detailed information on registration fees, packet pickup and parking can be found here.
The 5K Run/Walk will begin at 8:00 AM, and the (12 and under) Children’s 1K will begin at 9:00 AM. The races will be followed by an awards ceremony and an after race party featuring food, games, and live music.
